Ronas Voe

Ronas Voe on a bright sunny day

Ronas Voe is situated in the north Mainland, close to North Roe

Ronas Voe is the second largest voe in Shetland, the first is Sullom Voe just a short distance away.

Ronas Hill is the highest point in Shetland, seen just to the right. At the moment a Snowy Owl is present on the summit

Looking towards Heylor

The Battle of Ronas Voe took place in 1674, the final battle of the Anglo Dutch war

300 Dutch sailors are buried at Heylor where a memorial can be found with the inscription of `Hollanders Grave'
