Typical Shetland spring

This has been the worst prolonged period of bad weather since we moved to Shetland 7 years ago

It was worse yesterday, 65mph winds, blizzard conditions, power cuts, snow drifts, roads closed, two buses and a number of cars off the road.

Also just north of Shetland in the afternoon, the waves came up to an average of 44 feet with waves over 50 feet on occasion, the highest waves anywhere in the world

Blizzrd conditions continued well into the night with the chill facor top -11 degrees

better today but its coming back on Friday
