Shetland Update

Well we have had a couple of months of gales, rain and snow. Living on an island you have to prepared so stock up with milk and canned food and this came in handy with the ferry cancelled for 4 days. Luckily we have a great shop and bakery in Sandwick so we can get bread from them.

Home

A few Up Helly Aa's have come and gone, the Lerwick one should have been attended by 1200 people from a cruise liner but fortunately the weather was too bad to land and an out break of gastroenteritis didn't help with over 200 people ill.

Spiggie

Lerwick was already packed so 1200 extra people would have put a big strain on resources. We just watched on Promote Shetland and the presentation was very good.

Looking towards Bressay Lighthouse

I have managed to get out a few times when the weather has been calm and a few days of sun.

I still have my Mirrie Dancers book on offer at £25 (reduced from £35) + postage. If interested please send a message.

St Ninian' s Sunset

St Ninan's is always a special place to visit. In the summer you may find it difficult to park, yet the beauty of winter is only seen by a few
The Sun has moved south in winter creating different photo opportunities and also the tombolo is often cut off

A green flash from the sun, normally difficult to capture as there is a cloud bank often seen blocking the sun as it sinks

Have a happy New Year, hope to post many more photos this coming year
